Away We Go

I just got back from a sneak preview of Away We Go. It's the movie I've been waiting for for a year. My favorite director (Mendes) with my favorite writer (Eggers).

It was everything I wanted... great cinematography, acting, and writing. About a couple just trying to find out how to do the right thing. I think the answer is that you just do what you think is best at that moment, and as long as love is there, that's the best you can do.

John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph, and Dave Eggers answered questions afterwards. A great event.

Sugary Beverages: Stop the Tax Loophole

In addition to these proposals, the government should remove the tax loophole for sugar sweetened beverages. Currently these beverages receive an advantage over other foods, because tax payer money goes to subsidize the corn syrup used to produce them. The states can counter this reverse tax, by charge a few cents on each ounce sold. The money can be used to promote healthy foods.
