My Top 3 Wines of 2004:
#3.Terrazas 2003 Alto Malbec
Colour: deep red with blue shades.
Aroma: aromas of red, black and dried fruits, especially plums and figs combine to give the wine a great intensity. Further hints of vanilla and caramel can also be detected.
Taste: the wine is rich and juicy with soft, well-ripened tannin. Notes of black fruit, jam and vanilla blend to give the wine a mouth-watering finish.
Consumption suggestions: enjoy this tasty Malbec with red and white meats, fish and pasta dishes. Serve between 16° and 18°C.
#2 Citra Montepulciano D'Abruzzo
Color: Lush ruby with hints of purple.
Taste: Dry, well-balanced and delightfully tannic, with concentrated berry flavors.
Serving Suggestions: A perfect accompaniment to grilled meats, rich pasta dishes and vegetarian entrees. Enjoy at room temperature.
#1: Fess Parker Frontier Red Lot 22
Intended to evoke the spirit of rugged individualism upon which our country was founded, this is a complex blend of Rhone and Bourdeaux varietals. You will find blackberry and dark cherry fruit flavors along with spice, coffee, green olive, black currant, hints of licorice, menthol and herbs, plus subtle earth nuances.
“Frontier Red” is designed to be the perfect complement to the foods found
at most backyard cookouts and barbeques, that most common of American meals.
Have fun tasting!

Happy Thanksgiving
Sorry I've been distant for awhile. First I had to recover from the man we call president somehow winning an election again.
Then I've been busy with AMSA stuff. We had some successful events, including NO SODA DAY. To see some of the news on NO Soda Day click here: http://news.google.com/news?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&q=%22no+soda+day%22
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I'll be setting up a notify list soon, so you can keep up to date with my blogs.

NPR : Obesity Often Linked to Income
NPR : Obesity Often Linked to Income
Hi everyone,
Listen to this piece on NPR.
This piece is short but very interesting. It aired on NPR last week. It talks about how the cost of food is linked to obesity. There is some very interesting research on this issue. Basically, the theory is that healthy food costs more per calorie than less healthy food. One of the biggest health disparities is obesity, which is related to differences in incomes.
Can we fight the obesity epidemic without fighting poverty? Does the solution to obesity partly reside in lessening economic disparities? In changing food prices?

Bush Quote of the Week
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." - George W
I'm glad Bush won't stop thinking about how to harm our country.

Gay Marriage Amendment
George W is trying to do something never done before: Amend the constitution to LIMIT citizens' rights. This whole thing is ridiculous. Does it really affect anyone else if two gay people want to get married? The conservatives make it sound like once two gay people get married, the whole world will blow up because no marriage will have any significance anymore.
The research shows that a stable gay relationship is perfectly fine for a child. Additionally, I know the problems of "partners" not being able to participate in medical decision making for a person they have been with for decades.
The Republicans are just trying to use this issue to put a wedge in the country to divide us. Let's bind together and tell Congress we all stand for universal rights for all citizens. Please take action at Moveon.org's site:

Michael Moore's New Movie
Michael Moore Home Page
Everyone should check out this new movie, "Fahrenheit 9/11". Moore does an excellent job. While it is not as funny or thought entertaining as, Bowling for Columbine, it shows how bad the Bush Administration is.
Moore's goal with this movie was to unseat George Dumbayou Bush. He steps back more in this movie and lets the facts speak for themselves. The New York Times details how carefully he researched every fact in the movie.
Michael Moore is once again, smart, funny, to the point, and brilliant. Thank you Mike, as I've been waiting a long time for this movie. His next movie will supposedly be about our "health"care system. I guess, I'm back to waiting again....
