Sugary Beverages: Stop the Tax Loophole

In addition to these proposals, the government should remove the tax loophole for sugar sweetened beverages. Currently these beverages receive an advantage over other foods, because tax payer money goes to subsidize the corn syrup used to produce them. The states can counter this reverse tax, by charge a few cents on each ounce sold. The money can be used to promote healthy foods.
